The Bachelor: Andy Baldwin and Miss Iran?

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

While Andy Baldwin definitely found quite a few fans through his appearance on The Bachelor, some viewers were put off by one major element of his personality.

The charitable might call it a certain level of personal warmth that manifested itself through a lot of physical affection. The less charitable might call it being handsy.

Either way, for much of the show, Andy spent a lot of time up very close and personal with the ladies.

That is what makes it hard to be absolutely certain how to interpret recent paparazzi photographs and video footage that has just surfaced of Andy and a woman who is not former fiancée but still-girlfriend Tessa Horst.

On Monday, TMZ posted footage of Andy getting very close with Miss Iran 2005, Sepideh Haftgoli, in a Los Angeles park. JustJared also published pictures of the two with arms around one another and engaging in what appears to be fairly flirty behavior.

Both sites indicate this means Andy and Tessa have split, and it certainly could.

But again, Andy’s concept of personal space seems to be a little different than most peoples’, so maybe he’s found a platonic friend in Sepideh who shares the same quirk.

Additionally, when Tessa and Andy announced the end of their engagement, but said they would continue to date, they did not seem to state definitively that theirs would be an exclusive arrangement. Who knows? Maybe they are both open to dating others while still seeing how things go between the two of them. Maybe Tessa is exploring other options as well, just without attracting the same number of cameras that Andy seems to.

So once again, The Bachelor fans who got drawn into the story about Andy and Tessa will be left to draw their own conclusions about what this new development could potentially mean for the couple, at least until we find out more from the couple themselves.

What do you think? Is this much ado about not much? Do you still believe that Andy and Tessa are in love and working it out? Or do you agree that this must mean that Andy and Tessa are finally kaput? Leave your thoughts on this latest The Bachelor development in the comments below.

Exec: New ‘Bachelor’ is ’sexiest’ Texan

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Brad Womack, a 34-year-old bar owner, is ABC’s new “Bachelor,” set to premiere Sept. 24.

And executive producer Mike Fleiss says they’ve got a real hot one on their hands.

“He’s the hunkiest, sexiest bachelor ever,” Fleiss told the Daily News. “And not only is he good-looking, but he’s just a sweet, sincere guy. We’ve had a million guys on the show and he’s the first who has ever come to me and said that he really appreciates the opportunity and he wants to pay for a barbeque for the entire crew and staff himself when the show is over.”

Fleiss said his casting team discovered Womack in one of his Texas bars on a night they were scouting for women to appear on the show. That’s usually how it happens, though, since the show considers candidates who send in tapes to be less than desirable.

“We’ve never used one of them,” said Fleiss. “Those guys usually tend to be cheeseballs. Like, check out my Ferrari! Look at my pecs! It’s better to find a guy who’s nominated by his boss or his family or his friends or some girls in the office.”

Fleiss also says that not only is Womack the hottest bachelor yet, but the pool of women vying for his affection is the most beautiful group yet.

“Because Andy Baldwin, our previous bachelor, was so popular, the caliber of the women jumped up substantially,” he said. “It’s a pretty dazzling cast. All new girls - but one of them is the hottest girl in ‘Bachelor’ history.”

Womack sounds like he’s in for a treat - but if he’s such a catch, why is he still single?

“It’s the same old, same old,” said Fleiss. “I think he had a couple long-term relationships that looked like they were going to end in marriage and then didn’t. Then he got really committed to his work and, next thing you know, he’s 34 years old and needing some help from the ‘Bachelor.’”

Brad Womack is Happy

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

This just in: most couples from The Bachelor do not work out.

Andy Baldwin and Tessa Horst appear to be the latest example of these flame outs.

Brad Womack With the eleventh season of the show beginning Monday, the latest Bachelor, Brad Womack, is aware of these results. But he isn’t worried.

“I am very well aware of the success rate of the past Bachelors — some have worked and some haven’t,” Womack told reporters during a Tuesday conference call. “Quite honestly, I didn’t even let that enter my mind. I just thought, ‘This is my experience and only my experience.’ I wanted to go into it with an open mind, and I did just that.”

While the 34-year old would not give away the name of his winner, he did admit that the proverbial question is popped on the season finale.

“All I can say is I’m extremely happy with the turnout of the show - I know that’s a generic answer, and I wish I could give you more - but I’m very, very happy with the turnout,” he said. “It’s very, very easy for me to keep quiet about everything.”

Womack said he’s also “always been a very loyal person.” Therefore, Reality TV World reports it should be easy for him to remain faithful to his selected suitor while being away from her over the course of The Bachelor 11’s broadcast run.

“It’s of course a little different in the aftermath [of filming The Bachelor],” he said. “But I think if a connection was made, then it’s easy to keep it, for me anyway.”

Meet Brad Womack, The Next Bachelor

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Southern gentleman Brad Womack is ABC’s newest Bachelor, the network has announced.

Starring in a reality series about romance – the 11th edition of the matchmaking show – is a drastic change for the Atlanta-born, Texas-reared 34-year-old, who spent his 20s working in the oil fields of Louisiana, North Dakota and California.

But perhaps it’s not so different from tending bar, which is how he began his rise to success. Working with his brothers Wesley and Chad (his twin), Womack saved enough money to purchase his first drinking establishment in 2001. He now co-owns four bars with his brothers – both of whom are married – and resides in Austin. (He and the brothers are featured on the MySpace page for one of their bars, The Chuggin’ Monkey.)

Already, the show has dubbed him “The Bachelor’s own McSteamy” and claims he is “sincere” and “optimistic” about finding his wife.

Womack is set to wrangle his perfect match among 25 eager women he’ll meet in the Monday, Sept. 24, premiere (9:30 p.m. ET).

The Bachelor: Brad Womack Shows Off Body, Talks ‘Settling Down’

Monday, September 24th, 2007

The new star of the ABC reality TV show “The Bachelor” is Texan Brad Womack. To call him “hunky” is fair and he has already been compared to Dr. McDreamy and if looks alone can bring this series ratings back he will be able to accomplish that. He’s says he’s ready to settle down and is looking for the right gal.

Of course we’ve all heard that before with this show. “I’ve dreamed of finding that one person that [makes] all of this worthwhile,” Brad says. “I’m very excited. Help me! God help me, is she out there?” But still it has a good hook and a good looking guy to promote. The Insider has video and pictures of the new shirtless ‘Bachelor’!

The Insider has this: The 11th edition of ABC’s popular romance reality show is ready to set hearts aflutter with the new “Bachelor”’s sexy, shirtless bod — the Atlanta-born Brad appears in a sizzling audition tape, working out and cooking breakfast while topless and talking about finding the perfect mate! “I’m looking for that person — she’s out there somewhere,” he says, adding, “Loneliness isn’t fun at all … I can make eggs for two.”

Brad offers more: “I don’t have a family name, I’m not royalty, I don’t play professional sports, but I’m here for the right reason. … The ultimate outcome is me at the end … getting on a knee and giving her a ring and moving back to this beautiful city and having fun,” he says.
