George Clooney: The Motorcycle Accident was “Pretty Scary”

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

George Clooney and girlfriend Sarah Larson hit the red carpet together at the premiere of his new film Michael Clayton only days after a motorcycle accident left the actor with a broken rib and his girlfriend with a broken foot.

Clooney kept his hand on his new lady’s arm at all times.

As she hobbled into the theater on crutches, Usmagazine.com asked how she’s holding up. “I’m feeling better!” Larson said.

Brad Pitt showed up to support his pal but made sure all the attention was on Clooney by not giving interviews. After Clooney, 46, greeted Pitt, 43, with a handshake, saying, “Hey, old man!”, Pitt headed straight into the theater, and Usmagazine.com grabbed a few moments with Clooney.

Us: How are you feeling?

George: “I feel pretty lucky we got out of there, ya know. It was pretty scary.”

Us: What was going through your head at the time of the accident?

George: “Mostly, I was just hoping I wouldn’t hurt anybody and that we weren’t going to get hurt.”

Us: Will you continue to ride?

George: “Yeah, I love my motorcycle. It’s a huge part of my life. I ride every day.”

Us: Did you know Brad was showing up tonight?

George: “He told me he might show up, he texted me earlier. It’s good to see him. He’s a good guy.”

Us: How is he as a dad?

George: “He’s not really my dad, but he’s great with his kids, of course.”

George Clooney: “Just Happy to Be Alive”

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

Only days after a motorcycle accident that left him with a broken rib and his girlfriend with a busted foot, George Clooney appeared to be in high spirits at the New York premiere of his new film, Michael Clayton.

“We feel pretty lucky we got out of it,” the Oscar-winner told OK!. “Mostly you’re just hoping you’re not going to hurt anybody and you’re not going to get hurt.”

George, who explained that he and girlfriend Sarah Lawson were riding through New Jersey “to get a different view” of Manhattan, also tells OK! that, despite the accident, he’s not done with two-wheeling. “I’ve been riding motorcycles for 30 years,” he says. “I love them.”

As for how the headline-making incident has impacted his young relationship with Sarah, the actor/director reveals, “We’re just pretty happy we weren’t hurt worse.” And while his gorgeous gal pal would only say that she’s feeling “better” as she limped into the premiere on crutches, George points out, “She seems like she can take the pain, eh?”

So did George’s life flash before his eyes as his bike skidded along the pavement? “God, I hope not!” he laughed. “That’s pretty terrifying if that was my life.”

Cracked Rib Doesn’t Keep Clooney Away

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) — George Clooney didn’t let a motorcycle accident keep him off the red carpet at the premiere of his new film, “Michael Clayton.”

Clooney arrived with his girlfriend, Sarah Larson, who was also injured in Friday’s accident in New Jersey.

“I’m doing fine, yeah — good, good, good,” Clooney told Associated Press Television at Monday night’s event. “I’m just, you know, dinged up a little bit.”

Clooney, 46, and Larson were injured when their motorcycle and a car collided on a narrow road in Weehawken, across the Hudson River from New York. Larson was a passenger on the vehicle. Both were wearing helmets.

“I got a cracked rib, so I’m not jogging right now,” Clooney joked. “No jumping jacks.”

He wore a black suit and white shirt with no tie. Larson wore a knee-length black dress and was propped up on crutches. Her left foot was bandaged.

Clooney has been in the New York area to film the Coen brothers’ “Burn After Reading,” co-starring Brad Pitt, John Malkovich and Frances McDormand.

Pitt also attended the premiere, but bypassed the media on the red carpet.

When asked about how it seemed that he and Pitt coordinate everything, including projects, Clooney joked: “We do. We call each other — we actually ask what we’re wearing. He’s wearing an all-white suit tonight.”

Correction, Clooney: Pitt wore a black suit and shirt.
